Introduction:
Mukta Foundation, established in 2014, is a research-oriented company leading towards a public research institution on social sciences and humanities in Nepal. It is dedicated to the production of scientific and systematic knowledge of Himalayan society and culture in South Asia. The institution’s main objective is to contribute to the production of new knowledge based on contemporary concepts and perspectives on social and environmental sciences including; Feminism, Human Security, Environmentalism, Ethnic Identity and Identity Politics, Nation Building, Rights and Peace, Internal Awareness, and Neutrality.
The Vision, Mission and Values of the institution are:
Vision: Society that respects feminist values, ensure security of all human beings, and protection of nature and natural environment
Mission: Production of scientific knowledge and discourses to influence policy and enhance economic, social and psychological prosperity.
Values: Research based social and economic policies, academic debates and discourses, interdependence of global humanity.
Major activities to undertake:
- Research on social, cultural and political dimensions of Nepal and the Himalayas of South Asia.
- Organize conferences, lectures, seminars and workshops on the contemporary concepts and perspectives on social and environmental dimensions.
- Produce scientific and systematic knowledge on various aspects of humanity -social cultural, economic, political, environmental, psychological- and interchange across the humanity.
- Collaborate with academic and other institutions of Nepal, South Asia and beyond to produce knowledge and contribute for the promotion of feminist values and principles and ensure human security of all people and protection of nature and natural environment.
